A Champion for Conservation
Throughout her career, Anna Eshoo worked to protect the natural resources that define our region. Her conservation achievements include:
Expanding Protected Public Lands: Anna helped champion the expansion of the California Coast National Monument through the protection of the Cotoni Coast Dairies property in Santa Cruz County. This remarkable landscape includes coastal habitat, watersheds, working lands, and hundreds of acres of redwood forest.
Supporting Restoration and Resilience: She helped secure funding for major environmental restoration projects, including the restoration of more than 1,600 acres of wetlands at Bair Island.
Advancing Climate and Clean Transportation Solutions: Anna supported investments in cleaner transportation, renewable energy, and climate resilience that continue to benefit communities throughout the region.
Protecting Wildlife Habitat: Her leadership helped advance the protection of important public lands and wildlife habitat across the Bay Area, including Rancho Corral de Tierra and the Phleger Estate.

A Living Tribute

In honor of Anna Eshoo's extraordinary commitment to California's redwood forests, Sempervirens Fund will dedicate an old-growth redwood in Big Basin Redwoods State Park. This living tribute reflects a lifetime spent protecting the forests, wildlife, and public lands she championed throughout her career.
For generations to come, visitors will be be able to stand beneath its branches and remember a leader whose vision helped safeguard these remarkable forests. Like the redwoods themselves, Anna's impact will continue to grow through the people she inspired and the landscapes she helped protect.
