The 2020 CZU Lightning Complex Wildfire

In 2020, our communities throughout San Mateo, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz counties experienced the worst wildfire in the region in recorded history. Fire devastated the landscape, homes were lost, our neighbors were displaced, wildlife were on the run, and forests are left scorched and burnt over. Our air was choked with smoke and ash. And many of the region’s parks, including the iconic Big Basin Redwoods State Park, have been significantly impacted by these wildfires.

Work has already begun--at Big Basin and throughout the region--to recover from the devastation of the wildfires. As we look ahead to what comes next, we need your help.

We created the Santa Cruz Redwoods Restoration Fund to restore redwoods throughout the Santa Cruz mountains affected by the wildfires And we created the Big Basin's Future Fund to support the planning, designing, and rebuilding efforts that will shape the park's future.
