Alec Apodaca and Alexii Sigona join us to learn about the coordinated efforts documenting the deep history of Native American landscape stewardship here in our own backyards. To carry out this multidisciplinary research, the Amah Mutsun Land Trust has partnered with the Department of Anthropology and Department of Environmental Science and Policy Management at UC Berkeley to investigate how Native people used fire to steward important cultural and natural resources on the landscape, and what the contemporary implication for these long-term legacies of land use are for us today.
