Frequently Asked Questions
• What size is my grove or how many redwoods are in it? Groves selected for dedication feature at least one stand or fairy ring of redwoods and may include other trees common to the Santa Cruz mountains such as tanoaks, madrones, or Douglas fir. These stands symbolize a healthy redwood forest and will live for many years to come.
• What text fits on the sign and how long does it take until it is placed? Accessible* groves have the option to place a sign honoring their family and friends. Generally, the sign honors the person(s) in just a few words. The production, California State Parks approvals, and placement of the sign can take three months or longer, especially as we experience delays during Covid-19.
• How do I visit my grove? Groves in accessible* locations can be visited. Please contact us to assist you with maps or updates about the park you are visiting.
• Can you assist me with scattering ashes or planning an event at the grove? Yes, we can assist you with this at an accessible* grove. Both scattering ashes or holding an event at the grove require permits from California State Parks. With an additional gift of support, Sempervirens Fund can guide or lead the process.
